“Intercultural Joint Awareness Raising – In.J.Awa.Ra” is a two-year (2013-2015) EuropeAid project. CARDET participates in the project as a partner, along with TAMAT (Lead Partner- Italy), the Association Migration, Solidarite et Echanges pour le Developpement (France), the EURO-training (Bulgaria), the JARIT ASOCIACION CIVIL (Spain), and the VSI SARETAS (Lithuania).
The general objective of the project is to make a contribution to the enhancement of the levels of information and proactive awareness of European citizens on the foundations, the dynamics as well as the effects of the relations between the Global North and South. Additionally, the specific objective of ‘In.J.Awa.Ra’ is to reinforce a widespread and collective conscience on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) able to cultivate public support for the development of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) – based on EU policies and principles of solidarity, human rights and democracy. The objectives of the project are expected to be met through the promotion of development education and awareness raising efforts among the young citizens in 6 EU countries.
‘In.J.Awa.Ra’ intends to develop common curricula among the partnership, together with the representatives of youth associations and youth in general, in the partner countries, who constitute the main target groups of the project. The curricula will be based on Development Education Themes, including “Raising Awareness on Sustainable Development”, “Environmental Sustainability”, “Global Partnership”, “Social Justice” and “Poverty Eradication”. Through cooperation between the project partners and the youth, a sense of ownership among the young European citizens will be created which will ensure the sustainability of the project. The common curricula produced within the framework of ‘In.J.Awa.Ra’ will be enriched with specific features of the partner countries’ local culture and practice. The courses developed during project will be based on the use of multimedia, games and interactive activities and will be delivered to young citizens by the partners’ team in collaboration with members of youth associations.
