The Framework for the Council of Europe Work on the Migration Issues (2011) strongly recommends the adaptation of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) for purposes of integration of migrants and persons belonging to communities of immigrant background. Moreover, fostering the second language acquisition of migrant mothers with pre-school age children allows them to develop awareness and active citizenship and to be ready to interact with the many institutions and bodies involved in their children's education and life.

The project aims to design and pilot a methodology and tools to involve young migrant mothers with children aged 2-6 in a language- and content-integrated training.  A training course will be delivered in every partner country with the aim to teach migrant mothers the second language (national language of the host country) (L2) together with useful contents related to family management and basic active citizenship skills: basic ICT, nursing principles, information about nursing services in the host countries, citizenship, food education, and health education.

The contents of the course, closely related to everyday life and common issues the mothers have to cope with, will be specifically designed to encourage the attendance of those women who are more reluctant to follow more formal training paths.
